The challenge

Inspecting 1.8 million tons of cargo a year leaves no room for process gaps. Yet SCA Logistics's inspection workflow had exactly that: a fragmented, two-step system that slowed operations and introduced errors at every turn.

On the terminal floor, one team used handheld cameras to photograph incoming containers. Back at the office, another team removed memory cards, uploaded photos to a PC, and manually entered container references into the system. Two teams, two steps, and one significant margin for error between them. Typos in container numbers meant records couldn't be traced. Inconsistent documentation meant customers couldn't always be given a clear picture of their cargo's condition. And with no centralized platform connecting departments, transparency — both internally and with clients — was hard to guarantee.

Our Approach

Cargosnap collapsed SCA's two-step inspection process into a single step, putting the entire workflow in the hands of the person standing in front of the container. Using the mobile app, handlers now scan container numbers directly via OCR, eliminating manual entry entirely. Photos are captured, checklists completed, and records stored, all in the same motion, all linked to the right reference from the start.

Custom workflows were configured to match SCA's specific inspection requirements, with standardized checklists and forms ensuring consistency across every shift, every team, and every container that passes through the terminal.
