How Granport makes inspections 10x faster

Granport provides logistics services for transporting, handling, and storing containers or general cargo, whether conventional, chemical or surplus cargo, via cabotage for foreign trade and domestic market.

Diego is part of the Operational team responsible for transporting and handling containers and general cargo.


The operations team headed by Diego realized that to grow and optimize their current supply chain operations, they needed to undergo a digital transformation within their company and throughout their presently used systems and processes. 


Granport's priority was to keep the quality of their processes but improve and standardize elements such as manual activities, rework, time spent on inspections, and the excessive use of paper. 
 


Previously the team used around 15 digital cameras to perform visual cargo checks. However, this manual method was time-consuming. There was still a lot of administrative work to organize all the pictures collected from the 15 cameras.

SOLUTION


"It is a tool created to increase the agility and autonomy of our operations."  


Cargosnap’s implementation began in June 2019. The first step was to integrate Cargosnap with their internal system. Granport's IT team came together with the Customer Success Team of Cargosnap to ensure the integration of the two systems was successful and all stages of the operations processes were addressed. 


Changes are always difficult, so at first, the team was hesitant to adopt this new process; however, after a short amount of time,
they realized that everything became faster and all steps of inspections could be tracked easily, resulting in a reduction of cargo damages. 


After 2 weeks of using Cargosnap, the team was in full swing and operating easily.
"Our operations are complex; Now it is quite simple, fast, and reliable. Without integration with our existing systems, it wouldn't have worked in our company." Diego comments.

An example of success was how their customers valued the standardized and fast cargo inspection reports now being received by them, with the Granport logo and all. 


From days to seconds


According to Alexandre, IT coordinator, it used to take days to gather all the evidence and send reports to the customers.
"We would have to search for the photo, day, time, and other cargo details. Today, we have all the data necessary within a few clicks." 


As part of the API integration, Granport's inspections are only completed when Cargosnap is used; it is now an integral part of the operational procedure that cannot be avoided and is a standardized process for the team. 


Granport experienced a significant decrease in cargo damages and claims with a new method of gathering pictures. "
It is an excellent tool to prove to suppliers or customers that we delivered the cargo in perfect condition." 


Diego says, "
We were very dependent on manual data handling; now the system is tracking everything. We used to have 2-3 people responsible for cargo photos management. Now we don't need this role anymore.”
