Almar Container Group is a leader in leasing and trading shipping containers in Southern & Eastern Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Dubai. They work within multiple industries, such as Logistics, Cold Storage, Bulk Liquid Storage, Retail, and general storage.

According to Chris Husted, Head of Digitalisation & Innovation, Almar qualifies containers based on their condition, and photos are essential for the sales team to assess the condition of the container. Besides visual proof like photos, Almar needed to decrease manual inspection data entry and improve time spent on non-standard processes. 

 

At the time, the team was using tools that did not offer mechanisms for control and still depended on the technical team to maintain the database. 

 

Then, the innovation team saw an opportunity in Cargosnap to simplify and speed up data collection. Along with needing to provide an adequate tool for their internal team to handle the volume of their requests, they also needed to ensure a high-quality experience for each customer.

At first, Almar’s stakeholders were resistant as they did not want one more tool to increase their work; however, after studying Cargosnap’s integration capabilities, Almar found an uncomplicated way to overcome their challenges.

Cargosnap makes it possible to control everything closely. Almar can organize all the checklists and create better communication between the operational and sales teams. 


Chris Husted affirms that Cargosnap has helped them improve transparency by giving a better overview of their sales process. “We have access to the latest pictures of every container, and our sales team can be confident that they are selling it from the correct stock and price.”

Almar used to outsource all their operations from depots to inspections to repairs. Cargosnap allows them to segment their supplier base, give the required access and permissions, control licenses, and monitor app use.

 

“Cargosnaps’s onboarding was brilliant, and the user interface is excellent and intuitive. We like the control you have over licenses and permissions, and with the API integration, the world is your oyster”,  says Chris. 


The company does all kinds of seaworthy certifications. Such procedures used to take 1-2 days to be done and sent to the team. 


Surveyors would typically go to the depot, perform a container inspection checklist, take pictures, and then complete a certificate and email it during the next two days. When a form is submitted with Cargosnap, everything is created automatically via the API (Webhook).

says Chris.
